Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream will no longer be sold in Palestinian territories occupied by Israel. The company has also stated, while it will end sales in the West Bank and Gaza, it will stay in Israel through a different arrangement. This upset many Israelis and have caused them to label this as an Anti-Semitic decision. However, the founders of Ben and Jerry's are both "proud Jews" and fully support the decision made by the company. They believe it to be consistent with the company's values and have also expressed that it is a brave move.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the original decision was to boycott the state of Israel entirely amongst the members of the company’s board of directors. Of course, they were not allowed to do so and in fact were blocked by the parent company Unilever. The board of directors have been wanting to withdraw sales for years from the occupied territories. A different "official statement" was also suppose to be released where no mention of continued sales in Israel were mentioned.
Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream has been distributed in Israel since 1987. This may be one of the reasons why so many Israelis are upset. While support for the state of Israel is still generally praised in America, there is a growing shift amongst the younger generations. According to one report, "Israel currently has a net favorability of just 3% among Democrats and voters who lean Democratic, down from 31% in the early 2000s". Surprisingly there is a growing support for the Palestinians among liberals and young Americans.
1 Thessalonians 2:15 "Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:"
Many US voters including American Jews who were once strong supporters of Israel, have now shifted their view and no longer support the Jewish state. Many Americans in the past have also been in favor of the two-state solution which makes a distinction between the state of Israel and the territories that are occupied by the Palestinians. However, the Israeli government does not distinguish between the two. The straw that broke the camels back when it comes to Ben and Jerry's position, was the fighting that occurred in Gaza in May 2021. As a result, 253 Palestinians and 12 Israelis were left dead.
The State of Israel was created on May 14, 1948. Many believe this to be an act of God which is why people view it as the "Holy Land". It is said that God can be the only one responsible for such a miracle as this. They use Old Testament scriptures to prove their position and are quick to label anyone who disagrees as an Anti-Semitic. This is the reason why support for the State of Israel is propagated. In order to be blessed by God, one has to bless the Jewish State according to the Pro-Zionist. However, with a brief study of scripture, one can easily debunk these false claims.
Throughout the Bible we see a pattern of how the children of Israel were allowed to remain in the land as long as they would obey the Lord, When the children of Israel forsook the Lord, they were removed. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 4:27, "And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you". Later on in the same chapter we see that God tells the children of Israel, "For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them". And so we see that God was merciful unto them as long as they turned back to him.
The State of Israel was not created because the Jews suddenly turned back to the Lord. In fact, we see that the majority of the Jews adhere to Judaism. This is a religion that blasphemes the name of Jesus. The adheres of this religion believe in what is known as the Talmud. A collection of writings that teach that Jesus is burning in hell in his own excrement. It is clear to anyone who reads the Bible that the Jews are not blessed by God and in fact, the Bible says that God's wrath is on them to the uttermost.
1 John 2:22 "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son."
