Former President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against big tech companies such as Facebook, Google, and Twitter. Trump said “if they can do it to me, they can do it to you.” It appears that big tech companies have teamed up with the government to censor free speech. Specifically they have made it their agenda to censor speech that is not in agreement with their political or worldview. Of course this is done under the guise of censoring misinformation or disinformation. Donald Trump lost his platform on all social media accounts due to the insurrection that took place at the capitol on January 6 2021. Many believed that he was responsible for the riots that took place on that day due to the “rhetoric” used in his speech. Statements were made such as “If you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore”.
Despite your view on whether or not Trump was responsible for the insurrection or if he is responsible for the country being divided, it is evident that big tech seeks to censor those that oppose the mainstream view. Reports state “The former president was permanently banned from Twitter and suspended from Facebook for at least two years in response to posts he made regarding the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol”. Social Media platforms remove anything regarding the 2020 election that insists that there was major fraud. They remove anything that questions the origins of the Covid19 virus, or “misinformation” about vaccines.
“If you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore."
While free speech is listed under the First Amendment, experts say that private companies are not subject to comply with the First Amendment. Aside from Former President Trump, other consertive and religious platforms have been removed as well. As Christians, we know that there is nothing new under the sun. Many attempts have been made to silence Christians throughout the centuries. The Bible says in the book of Acts 4:18 “And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus”. Of course this did not stop the disciples from spreading the message of the Gospel. The word of God is not bound.
